Intro

Hello. My name is Coleen. You may know me from yelling on Twitter, being mentioned in podcasts, or even my other blog about videogames that I haven't written anything for in a year. What is kind of funny is that this blog was supposed to start a year ago. I felt so moved by Okada vs Omega from WrestleKingdom 11 that I felt the need to channel my love for professional wrestling in writing. Sadly I lost all my drive to write anything... until now!

I guess all you really need to know about me to get an idea if you wanna read any of this is what my general tastes are in wrestling. I view wrestling primarily from an artistic and storytelling perspective. While your big flippy and blood and guts matches are impressive, for me if there is not context like a story or strong characters I lose interest fast. I actually find myself pretty easily bored by a lot of the popular indie wrestling companies who put too much of their focus in athletics. These days I mostly watch NJPW, Chikara, NXT, STARDOM, and some sprinkles of PWG, ROH, or WWE if there's something that catches my eye.

I'm also a big fan of women's wrestling. I do wish I had more time to watch more women's wrestling. What actually got me back into wrestling as an adult was the women's division in NXT so I've mostly focused around that. I also really like intergender wrestling. I do understand the appeal of divisions or companies that only focus on men or women, but I do wish that it were more common for the men and women to compete with each other.

So I guess a safe bet to expect from this blog is essays about the art of wrestling or opinion pieces on some kind of issue. I'm also currently planning to go see King of Trios live later this year as well as traveling out for Mania weekend next year, but we'll see how money goes. I did just see NXT Philadelphia live but I don't have much to say about my experience other than be very careful about what seat you buy.
